God is the Great by Pastor Melissa Scott

If you really read this passage closely you’re going to see every single need is provided. Every single need; there’s not a need left out here that when you look at this, it’s not just some He snaps His fingers and happens. There’s care, very detailed care, the leading, “He leadeth me beside still waters.  He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Sorry, not for Melissa Scott and not for you; for His name’s sake. Do you know how many times I’m sure I thought I’m going to teach on this but you know what so many people just read this and its second nature, we recite it, we know it?

The care that goes in to shepherding and now I’m speaking about the Good, the Great, the Chief Shepherd of our souls is immense. It doesn’t just happen like that. It’s says even here, “Thou preparest a table before me”-”preparest.” He’s not like “I Dream of Jeannie” and He just twitches His eyes and there it is. There’s a preparation process for life in a believer to be able to sit down and sup with Him.

You think all these things and you recognize that David in his maturity reflecting back on his younger years has learned something of the nature and care for God; for God to him and for God’s people. Staggering. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” I missed one. I’m sorry. “The table in the presence of my enemies,” so for all you folks out there that say, “The people of God have not don’t have any enemies,” read the Scriptures. The more you press closer to God the more enemies you’re going to have.

The more you press close towards the heart of God, the more Satan and those opponents come to tear you away. But there is a Shepherd shepherding you, looking after you. And I, I fit into that group of people, God chose some under-shepherds.

That’s me. But He is the Shepherd and under His watchful care and under His watchful guidance with rod and staff. But the sheep need to understand God is the Great, the Good, the Great and the Chief. He gave an under shepherd and the under-shepherd comes with the Word of God and says, “This is your equipping. This is your green pasture.
